At Ingleside Animal Hospital, our leading-edge diagnostics enable us to screen your pet for a wide range of conditions. Our diagnostic tools play an important role throughout your pet's lifetime of veterinary care. We perform diagnostics during wellness exams to make sure that your pet is healthy; prior to surgery as an added measure of safety; and when your pet is unwell or injured to pinpoint the problem.
On-Site Laboratory
We can process most of your pet's diagnostic tests in our own laboratory. We do occasionally use a reference laboratory for more complex screening. With our on-site lab, we can process a wide range of tests and identify many conditions, including the following:
- Complete blood counts
- 12-point chemistry profiles
- Electrolytes
- Urinalysis
- Fecal tests
- Heartworm
- Parvo
- Giardia tests
- Feline AIDS
- Leukemia
- Fungal cultures
On-Site Radiology and Ultrasound
When your pet has an injury or other condition requiring deeper inspection, we have on-site imaging capabilities, including the following:
- Digital dental x-rays—These x-rays are perfect for inspecting your pet's teeth below the gumline to check for issues that can't be seen with the naked eye.
- Digital full body x-rays—Digital x-rays produce detailed images that we can view immediately on a computer monitor and enlarge for a closer look. Most of our radiographs are sent out for board certified radiologists to assist with interpretation.
- Ultrasound—Our ultrasound unit can help us spot kidney stones or cysts, blockages, ingested foreign objects, and distinguish fluid from tissue. Although our ultrasound capabilities are limited to general practice, referral for more complex issues should be discussed.
Specialty Diagnostics
When necessary, we can transmit your pet's digital x-rays or ultrasound images to a board-certified radiologist for further interpretation. We also partner with Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory when more specialized tests are needed.
